Radha Ayyagari, PhD, is Professor of Ophthalmology and Pathology, and Chief of Ophthalmic Molecular Genetics Laboratory (CLIA certified). She specializes in Molecular Genetics.
Dr. Ayyagari completed her undergraduate studies at Andhra University in Vizag, India, her graduate studies at Osmania University in Hyderabad, India and then completed a fellowship in Ophthalmic Molecular Genetics at the National Eye Institute, NIH, Bethesda.
Dr. Ayyagari’s research interests include molecular genetics of macular and retinal dystrophy and glaucoma, biological mechanisms underlying retinal diseases, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. She has been honored with the Frank A. Bennack, Jr. research fellowship, Sybil B. Barrington Scholar Award, University of Michigan Research Faculty Recognition Award and the Lew Wassermen Award.
