Michael H. Goldbaum

Michael Goldbaum, M.D., is Professor in Residence at UCSD School of Medicine and Co-Director, Retina Division. He received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans as well as an ophthalmology certificate in 1969 from the U.S. Navy. Goldbaum completed a Retina Fellowship at Cornell University, New York Hospital, and also received an M.S. in medical informatics from Stanford University.

Goldbaum began teaching ophthalmology at the University of California at San Diego in 1977 and is respected worldwide as a visiting Professor at universities in China, Paraguay, Italy, Ukraine as well as Stanford University and Columbia in the US. His research interests include the surgical and medical treatment of retina and vitreous, macular degeneration, pediatric retina, ocular tumors and glaucoma informatics.
