Maya Yamane, M.D. earned her medical degree from Columbia University, Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons. During her ophthalmology residency at the Shiley Eye Institute at the University of California, San Diego, she was selected as Chief Resident and awarded the Lamont Ericson Award for Outstanding Patient Care, given to one resident each year. She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which is consistently rated as one of the best children’s hospitals nationwide.
As a comprehensive pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Yamane diagnoses and treats a wide range of eye conditions, including strabismus eye alignment disorders), amblyopia nasolacrimal disorders, and retinopathy of prematurity. She has particular interest in anterior segment surgery, including cataract, glaucoma, and traumatic eye injuries in children.
Dr. Yamane is a member of the prestigious Gold Humanism Honor Society, nominated by her peers for her commitment to compassionate patient care. She is also a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
